Rose o’clock
There must be other flowers in the garden in June, and we pick them, but we are really only seeing the roses. hundreds and hundreds of beautiful roses. Roses are all our customers want this month, thought they reluctantly add foliage (mint, honeysuckle tendrils, feathery asparagus fern) and spires (foxtail lilies, delphiniums and foxgloves) as their work requires.
We are all overwhelmed and smitten by the heady romance of the roses, rambling up the walls and tumbling down, and spilling out from the the flower beds in fat cushion-like fountains, all over the gardens.
